Bandits beat 82-year-old lotto booth vendor

Port-of-Spain police are investigating a report where an 82-year-old lotto booth vendor was assaulted and robbed on Carnival Monday.

The incident took place at Duke Street, Port-of-Spain.

Horace Sookdeo of Cascade told police that around 7:30 am he was entering the lotto booth when four men ambushed him.

One of the assailants hit him on the head with a bottle.

While incapacitated, the bandits robbed the victim of two gold rings valued at $3,000, his wallet containing his ID card and $700 in cash and an iPhone valued at US$1,000. 

The assailants then ran along Frederick Street and escaped.
