Bandits make off with $36K from Cumana church

Toco police are investigating a report of sacrilege where an estimated $36,000 in cash and valuables were stolen.

The incident took place at the Cumana Seventh-day Adventist Church and School, police said.

The thieves broke into the church and stole $28,000 in cash, as well as a cheque book which was being kept at the church.

On the school’s compound, police found that the principal’s office had been broken into and that $8,000 in cash was missing.

Several valuables, including laptops, a multimedia projector, and cameras, were also reported missing.

PC Beharry is continuing investigations.
