Bandits make off with Volvo, Prado in South Oropouche
Police are searching for a group of thieves who robbed a couple of over $150,000 in jewellery, as well as cash, electronics, vehicles, and other valuables.
The incident reportedly took place around 3 am on Monday in South Oropouche.
The couple, a 31-year-old man and his 30-year-old wife – were said to have been asleep at their home when they were awoken by a group of intruders.
The men then tied up the woman and forced the man to open a safe where he had much of his valuables, including an undisclosed amount of cash, and over $150,000 in jewellery.
The assailants then stole several electronic items, including computer tablets and cellular phones, as well as the keys to the victims’ vehicles, including a Toyota Prado, a Volvo, and Mazda BT50.
The assailants then escaped in the vehicles.
The police were notified and a team of officers from the Southern Division responded.
PC Williams is continuing inquiries.
Thus far, one vehicle was recovered along Samaan Drive, South Oropouche.
LoopTT was told that police are also following several leads on the other vehicles, and they too are expected to be recovered.
