Barrackpore shooting victim was taxi driver, father of three

The man who was shot dead in Barrackpore on Saturday has been identified as 38-year-old taxi driver, Atiba Alexander of Coquette Street, Ste Madeleine.

Alexander AKA “Pone” was shot several times in his face, neck and chest.

He was identified by his relatives on Saturday.

He was said to be a father of three children.

His bullet-riddled body was discovered in the driver’s seat of his purple Nissan Almera motor vehicle at about 6.40 am on Saturday along Old Estate Road, off Cipero Road.

Police were told that he worked as a taxi driver, and was not known to law enforcement.

They currently have no motive for his death.
