Bayshore Pharmacist granted bail in rape case, accomplice remanded
Created : 7 November 2017
A Bayshore Pharmacist, 66, was granted $350,000 bail when he appeared before a Port of Spain Magistrate charged with three counts of rape and robbery.
Ramnath Ramdhan and his employee, Akeem Worrel, 27, were jointly charged with the crimes.
The two victims were reportedly lured into the Pharmacy in separate incidents, on the pretense that they would be interviewed for a job. Responding to an ad in a newspaper, the girls arranged to be interviewed. However, during the course of the session, the girls were raped and robbed of their valuables.
The men appeared before Magistrate Adia Mohammed in the 7th court. They were not called upon to plead as the charges were laid indictably.
Ramdhan was represented by attorney Matthew Gayle.
Bail was granted to Ramdhan on the condition that he remains at least 500 feet away from both complainants and make no attempt to contact them. Worrell was remanded into custody as sources say he has similar matters pending for incidents which occurred in the Chaguanas area.
Both men are expected to reappear in court on December 5.
