BCCC hopeful in future of trade between T&T and UK

The British-Caribbean Chamber of Commerce (BCCC) has expressed optimism in the future of trade between Trinidad and Tobago and the United Kingdom following the latter's departure from the European Union effective January 31, 2020.

In a statement issued on Tuesday, the BCCC acknowledged the uncertainty surrounding the move but reminded of the longstanding relationship between both countries.

The Chamber also praised Trade and Industry Minister Paula Gopee-Scoon who stated that the Government intends to draft the necessary legislation to ensure that the partnership with both nations continues.

The BCCC added that it was willing to assist the Government and its relevant industries during this period of transition.

Trinidad and Tobago has 11 months to make separate arrangements with the United Kingdom following Brexit.
