Belmont man charged with credit card fraud

A 32-year-old man is expected to appear before a Port of Spain Magistrate today on allegations of credit card fraud.

Earlier this week the suspect, who hails from Belmont, reportedly went on a “shopping spree” at various locations including Trincity Mall in Trincity, and West Mall, West Moorings.

The man made at least six traceable transactions from a credit card which was registered in the United States, including the purchase of cellular phones, including an iPhone 6S and a Samsung S8, as well as tires for a friend’s vehicle, accessories for a car, and other items.

Officers of the Fraud Squad, led by Snr Supt Dookie, received information of the man’s activities and transactions, and as such, the man was detained.

After inquiries were made, the suspect was charged with six offences and was due to appear in court on Friday.

More on this as it becomes available.
