A Chaguanas man has appeared in court charged with the murder of 19-year-old Darrell Mansingh.
Richard Ganese aka ‘Bhaggi’, 30, a labourer of Xavier Street, Chaguanas, appeared before Chaguanas Magistrate Christine Charles in the Chaguanas 1st Magistrates’ Court last Friday to answer the charge.
The matter was adjourned to October 5, 2018.
The victim, a welder of Chase Village, Chaguanas, was last seen liming at a bar in Felicity, Chaguanas, around 10:30 pm on August 4, 2017.
His mother filed a missing person’s report at the Chaguanas Police Station, on Sunday after not hearing from him.
Acting on information, officers conducted a search of a lonely area off Connector Road, Chaguanas two days later, where the victim’s body was found.
The body bore several stab wounds and the neck was almost severed.
Ganese was arrested by officers attached to the Central Division Task Force in the Cunupia district on August 28, 2018, and later charged following advice received from Deputy Director of Public Prosecutions, Joan Honore-Paul last Friday.
nvestigations were supervised by ASP (Ag.) Richard Smith, of the Central Division, Insp. Allister Jones and Sgt. Randy Ramjag, both of the Homicide Bureau of Investigations (HBI) Region 3, while Cpl. Rajesh Radhaykissoon, also of HBI Region 3, laid the charge.
