Biche couple shot; two suspects held for questioning

Two men are in police custody after they allegedly shot a Biche couple.

The victims are a 44-year-old man and his 45-year-old wife.

They are both from Fitts Road, Biche, and are currently warded in a stable condition at the Sangre Grande District Hospital.

LoopTT was told that around 8.10 pm on Sunday, the couple was at home when two men abruptly entered and began shooting at them.

The 44-year-old man was shot in his upper torso while his wife was shot on her left foot.

The men then fled the scene by running to a black Nissan Juke.

The police and paramedics were notified, and the injured couple was rushed for medical treatment.

A team of officers led by Inspector Garcia and Sgt Bhim responded and the officers were able to intercept the vehicle along the Cunapo Road, Biche.

A loaded firearm, loaded with one round of 9mm ammunition was seized.

Two men, aged 25 and 28, from Upper Cemetery Street, Diego Martin, were held.

At the scene of the shooting, 16 spent 9mm shells were found, along with one live round.

Sgt Bhim is continuing inquiries.
