'Black Panther' sets record for first-day pre-sale ticket numbers

'Black Panther' hasn't even hit theatres and is already setting records.

Tickets for the Disney/Marvel flick went on sale on Monday and sold out within 24 hours, passing Captain America: Civil War as popular ticket site Fandango’s best-selling Marvel title in the first 24 hours of presales.

Black Panther is riding an incredible wave of momentum right now. It’s one of the biggest and most anticipated movies to ever open in the month of February, and its trailers have electrified the Internet. Tickets have been going fast ever since presales started on Fandango late Monday,”  said Fandango managing editor, Erik Davis.

While movie chains and other sites also offer advanced tickets, Fandango is the most popular, giving a good indication of where sales are heading for the film, which hits theatres on February 16.
