In what has been described as an odd case for officers of the Central Division, a pirogue has been reported stolen from a river which runs along Brickfield Road, Couva.

The vessel, said to be a red pirogue named the Lutchmee II, was reported missing on Sunday.

It is said to have a value of $14,000.

Couva police were told that the vessel was secured by the boat’s 39-year-old owner on Saturday afternoon.

However, when the owner returned to the river on Sunday morning, it was realized the vessel was missing.

A search was conducted in the immediate vicinity however, the pirogue could not be found.

The police were notified and a team of officers form the Couva police station are said to be continuing inquiries.

More on this as it becomes available.
