Autopsy scheduled after fire officer found dead on Mayaro beach

Update July 20, 2020:

The body of a man which was found along Mayaro beach over the weekend has been identified as that of fire officer Chester Richardson.

Richardson, 47, is from Arima, and was last attached to the San Juan fire station.

He was a father of two.

Police suspect that the man may have drowned, noting that there were no visible marks of violence, and that his family had a beach house nearby.

An autopsy was scheduled to take place on Monday (July 20, 2020) at the Forensic Science Centre in St James.

According to reports, around 11 pm on Friday, a couple was walking along the beach when they observed the body of a man.

A report was made, and a party of officers responded.

On arrival, they observed the body of a man clad in a blue short pants.
