Body found in Fyzabad identified

The body of a man which was found on Monday morning in Fyzabad, has been identified as that of 33-year-old Jerome Barker. 

Barker, of Dubarry Street, Fyzabad, was identified by his relatives by the clothing he had on. 

An autopsy was expected to be performed to confirm the cause of death. 

According to police reports, around 9.20 am on Monday, a 30-year-old man associated with Heritage Petroleum went to Forest Reserve, Fyzabad. 

He followed a stench and discovered the body of a man about ten feet down a slope off the roadway. 

The police were notified and a team of officers led by ASP Ramdeen, and including Insp Neemai, Insp Putkoo, Insp Correi, Sgt Jaggernath, and Cpl Deo, among others, visited the scene. 

The body was viewed by a district medical officer and a wound was observed near the victim’s throat. 

It appeared as though it had been slit, but an autopsy is needed to confirm this.
