Body found in Morvant after reports of late-night shooting

Hours after residents reported hearing gunshots on Tuesday night, police were called to the scene in Morvant where a body was found on Wednesday morning.

According to reports, the deceased, who was yet to be identified up to Wednesday morning, was found in some bushes off Coconut Drive, Morvant.

Police officers were told that around 9:30 pm on Tuesday night, residents of the area heard several loud explosions.

Upon investigating, they saw two men armed with what appeared to be firearms chasing after a third individual.

The police were notified, and a team of officers from the Morvant Police Station responded, however, police said when they arrived, due to 'lighting conditions' they did not see anything out of the ordinary. 

However, it was not until 6:00 am Wednesday that police received a report that the body of a man was found in some bushes off the roadway.

Homicide investigators were still at the scene up to 8:30 am Wednesday.

Investigations are continuing.
