Body found near Cedros confirmed as that of missing diver

The decomposed body of a man which was found floating in the waters of the Gulf of Paria on Wednesday has been identified as 37-year-old Chevonne Bartholomew.

Bartholomew went missing on January 29.

The body was identified on Thursday by Bartholomew’s relatives at the Forensic Science Center in St James.

Bartholomew’s body was fished out of the waters at about 2:00 pm on Wednesday.

At the time, it was clad in a black wetsuit and a divers’ weight belt was tied to it.

It was removed by officials from the Trinidad and Tobago Coast Guard (TTCG) and brought to shore.

The body was viewed by a district medical officer who made certain pronouncements before ordering its removal to the San Fernando Mortuary.

The 37-year-old man of Flamboyant Crescent, Valencia, was an employee of Trindive Underwater Services, and was said to be inspecting an oil tanker in Chaguaramas when he disappeared.
