Body of unknown woman found at sea by fisherman

Police are investigating the discovery of the body of an unidentified woman, found in waters off Las Lomas on Monday.

At approximately 3 pm on Monday, fisherman Kyam Mohammed was fishing about a half-mile from the Gulf of Paria off of Las Lomas, when he observed the body of a woman in the water.

Mohammed identified the woman as being of African descent, medium built, dark brown complexion, approximately 5 feet 5 inches in height, with a long-dreaded hairstyle. The woman wore a pink multi-coloured top and was nude from the waist down.

The police were notified and PC Kalloo along with WPC Francis and PC Harrinanan responded.

The officers were escorted via boat to the location where the body was retrieved.

The deceased was photographed by Central CSI and viewed by Dr Boodansingh who ordered its removal to the Clark and Battoo Funeral Agency.

A post-mortem is expected to take place pending identification of the deceased.
