Boy, 17, arrested for gun and ammo possession

A 17-year-old was arrested and a pistol and a quantity of ammunition seized by officers of the Northern Division Area Central Task Force during an anti-crime exercise on January 12.

Acting on information, officers proceeded to Apartment #2, Oropune Circular, Oropune, where a search warrant was executed.

The search resulted in one Ruger pistol loaded with a magazine containing 16 rounds of 9mm ammunition being discovered in a bedroom of the apartment.

The teenager, who was found in the building at the time of the search, was arrested in connection with the find.

The exercise, conducted between 6 pm and midnight, was coordinated by Acting Assistant Commissioner of Police McDonald Jacob and was spearheaded by Acting Snr Supt Michael Daniel.
