Brace for more rain: Adverse weather alert extended to Tuesday

The Met Office has extended its Adverse Weather Alert #3-Orange Level to Tuesday.

In an updated bulletin on Saturday, it said citizens can expect more rain.

“An active ITCZ continues to produce intermittent periods of rain/showers and thunderstorm activity which can lead to flash flooding and exacerbate existing riverine flooding. Showers can be heavy to torrential at times and produce damaging gusty winds. Landslides/landslips are also likely in areas so prone,” the Met Office informed.

It instructs citizens to the following: For persons/areas that have not yet been affected, plan your emergency response to safeguard life and property. Pre-position sandbags if your area is prone to flooding. If your area is currently flooded and you are in need of assistance, please contact the ODPM or your local Disaster Management Unit. Continue to monitor official weather updates and news sources. More information: www.odpm.gov.tt
