If you love barbeque and alcohol, The EEEmpire (The Empire. Entertainment. Everything) has the perfect event for you.

Barbahol, an event that where you “eat in the day and dance in the night” according to the tagline, pits the country’s best barbeque crews together for bragging rights followed by a fete.

Described as the world’s first true barbeque fiesta, Barbahol will see crews in their uniquely decorated tents serving up all sorts of meats from chicken and pork to salmon and rabbit for patrons to enjoy.

Patrons will have the luxury of walking from crew to crew sampling their barbeque concoctions. Photos of the food will be uploaded to social media for three hours for people to vote for the people’s choice.

Celebrity judges will award this year’s bragging rights to the crew with the best barbeque. Last year’s winner and defending champion is Team Paranormik who will be seeking to ward off the 17 other contenders this year.

The spacious Ortinola Estate in St Joseph is the venue for the event and will be transformed into a festival space with clearly demarcated areas for the crews, a village where vendors can set up their products, sponsors’ booths and a stage.

Food will be served between 4 and 6 pm following which food vendors will be open for people to purchase items.

After 8 pm, it will be time to party with some of the nation’s top acts and DJs.

Barbahol evolved from a birthday party concept that Daniel Francis had at home. When he joined EEEmpire, he brought the concept to the crew.

Ken Sambury, the founder of EEEmpire, who had dreamt of doing a barbeque event, said they are aiming to make Barbahol into one of the largest open-air festivals in the Caribbean.

Established 10 years ago, EEEmpire has carved a niche in the local entertainment sector with seven unique events. Earlier this year, the group expanded its reach to Jamaica with a Beach Lime.

“We exist to create a space for people to meet and party in innovative ways,” said Sambury. “We aspire to become an international hub for events and unique experiences.”

Barbahol 2019 takes place on June 29. Tickets are available online at
