Brother beaten, sister allegedly sexually assaulted in South robbery
Police are investigating a report of a home invasion in which a 56-year-old man was beaten and his 51-year-old sister was sexually assaulted in South Trinidad.
The incident reportedly took place at about 8:30 pm on Wednesday near San Fernando.
According to police reports, the older man was outside in the yard of the home when he was accosted by two armed men.
One of the men, police were told, was armed with a firearm.
The 56-year-old was beaten about the body at gunpoint, while the second assailant searched for valuable materials.
Unfortunately, on hearing the commotion the 51-year-old woman left her room and was seen by the assailants.
It was said that she was confronted by one of the assailants who sexually assaulted her in the bedroom.
After securing cash and jewellery, the assailants fled the scene.
The police and emergency health services were notified, and the siblings were taken to the San Fernando General Hospital, where they were treated.
They have since been discharged.
A manhunt was launched for the two assailants, however, up to midday Thursday, no one was detained.
More on this as it becomes available.
