Created : 19 December 2018
Reggae icon Buju Banton will kick off his highly-anticipated Long Walk To Freedom tour in Kingston, Jamaica at the National Stadium on Saturday, March 16, 2019.
In a news release, his promotional team said tickets for the show will go on sale January 16 via Banton's official website www.bujubanton.com.
Banton, whose real name is Mark Myrie, recently returned to the island after serving eight years behind bars in the United States on drug-related charges.
The concert will reportedly mark the return of Banton's 'Shiloh' band who, according to the release, began rehearsing about a month ago for the Long Walk to Freedom stop in Jamaica and subsequent tour stops.
He has a show already booked for Trinidad and Tobago in the spring of next year. There is also a show set for March 30th at the Nassau National Stadium in the Bahamas.
Banton is a major reggae star, winning a Grammy award in 2011 for his album 'Before the Dawn'. He was previously nominated in the Best Reggae Album category in 2004, and 2010 for his albums 'Friends for Life' and 'Rasta Got Soul'.
