Bush fire destroys Santa Cruz home

A bush fire is suspected to have caused a fire that destroyed a two-storey home along Foster Block Road, Upper Santa Cruz.

The fire was reported around 1 pm on Monday.

Police were told that the occupant of the home observed a bush fire to the back of his home prior to his home catching aflame.

Residents of the area, on seeing the building on fire, attempted to quell the blaze, however, they were unsuccessful.

Appliances from Wrightson Road HQ and the Santa Cruz Fire Station responded, and under the supervision of FSO Phillip, they were able to contain the blaze.

The value of the house, along with items destroyed, have yet to be established.

No one was injured in this incident.
