Businessman badly beaten during supermarket robbery
A businessman was beaten so badly during a robbery on Tuesday night that he was forced to seek medical treatment.
The incident took place around 8 pm at the Golden Star Supermarket located in Edinburgh 500.
Police were told the victim was at the establishment when two men entered and announced a robbery.
They proceeded to assault the victim, hitting him several times as he was down on the ground, as they demanded the cash and valuables.
The suspects managed to steal $4,500 in cash, a quantity of phone cards valued at $1,200 and five bottles of Hennessey.
The men then escaped on foot.
The victim was then taken to the Chaguanas Health Centre where he was treated, before he was transferred to the Mt Hope General Hospital for further treatment.
Up to this morning he was said to be warded in a stable condition.
The two suspects were described as being of African descent, dark brown in complexion and of slim build. One, who was armed with a firearm, had a goatee and was wearing a purple hat, a black jersey and a pair of blue ¾ length pants and green slippers. The other was wearing an orange hat, a black jersey and a pair of grey ¾ length pants.
Anyone with information that can lead to the arrests of these individuals is asked to contact the Chaguanas Police Station, or any police station near them, or they can give the information anonymously through 555 or 800-TIPS.
