Businessman in court on allegations of obstruction of justice

The 63-year-old business man is expected to appear before a San Fernando Magistrate today, on allegations of obstruction of justice.

The accused, who is said to be the CEO of a prominent oil and gas company, was held on Thursday during a police exercise by officers of the Professional Standards Bureau.

According to police reports, the exercise was conducted by a team of officers, led by ASP Joseph Chandol and Sgt Brian Daniel.

The businessman  was arrested at his San Francique, Penal home, and then taken to the San Fernando Police Station, where the charge was formally laid.

The charge was said to have been in relation to allegations of assault.
