CAL appoints new CEO
Former Digicel Play Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Garvin Medera has been appointed the new CEO at Caribbean Airlines (CAL).
Medera’s appointment takes effect October 10 (today).
A statement from CAL’s Chairman, Shameer Mohammed, noted that the new CEO is looking forward to leading the transformation CAL must embrace to meet the challenges of the business environment.
Welcoming him to CAL, Mohammed said Medera’s strong combination of leadership, governance, technical and communication skills while at Digicel Play effectively led the organisation, which revolutionised home entertainment in the country.
The Chairman expressed his gratitude to former acting CEO Captain Jagmohan Singh and the Executive Management Team, who have all fulfilled dual responsibilities in some cases, to ensure that CAL continues to deliver an enhanced travel experience to its customers.
Medera served as General Manager Tobago and Chief Technical Officer while at Digicel, in addition to his previous role as Digicel Play CEO, and has an MBA from the University of Oxford, LLB from the University of London and an M.Sc and B.Sc. in Electrical and Computer Engineering from the University of the West Indies.
