Calls for help after family terrorised in Freeport robbery

CCTV footage captured a horrifying moment in Freeport on Sunday morning where a group of five men terrorised a family and their friends who were enjoying a birthday lime.

Central Division police are currently searching for the assailants, and are asking members of the public who may have relevant information to come forward.

“There was a family there. A little girl was at the home at the time. There was a woman who was celebrating her birthday. Imagine this was your mother. This was your sister. This was your daughter. We need to band together to fight against criminality. If you know something, say something,” senior officers told LoopTT.

The incident allegedly took place around 3:00 am on Sunday along Arena Road, Freeport.

They were said to be enjoying a birthday celebration with about a dozen people when five men stormed the compound armed with cutlasses and firearms.

Some of the men were wearing masks.

The assailants assaulted many of the guests – even beating a woman – and threatened to kill them if they did not hand over their valuables.

The assailants then relieved the guests of their cash, cellphones, jewellery, and keys to a Mazda 3 vehicle which was parked outside, among other things.

The assailants then made good their escape.

Anyone with information on this incident is asked to contact 555, 999, or 800-TIPS.

More on this as it becomes available.
