Careers Unveiled: Occupational Therapist

Have you ever wondered what goes into certain jobs?

In this limited series, Careers Unveiled takes a look at at some of the lesser-known career fields in Trinidad and Tobago, exploring occupations that, while we may know little about, feed into critical areas of our society.

In our final episode, we met with Occupational Therapist, Priya Gomes Mora of PreHab Services Ltd.

Priya's job entails treating injured or disabled patients through the therapeutic use of everyday activities, allowing them to develop, recover, improve, as well as maintain the skills needed for daily living and working.

Patients with permanent disabilities, such as cerebral palsy, often need help performing daily tasks. Occupational therapists show them how to use appropriate adaptive equipment, such as leg braces, wheelchairs, and eating aids.

Watch as Priya tells us more about how her job allows patients to perform a number of daily tasks--that many of us take for granted--and function more independently.
