Caribbean on show in New York at CTO Caribbean Week

Caribbean culture, cuisine and countries will be on show this week as the Caribbean Tourism Organisation's Caribbean Week gets underway.

Caribbean Week in New York combines business sessions and consumer-oriented events with food, fashion, entertainment, sales and networking opportunities. It also creates awareness of the Caribbean’s diverse product offerings and showcases its desirability through business development opportunities, consumer engagement and authentic cultural experiences.

The event will be held at the Wyndham New Yorker hotel and will include events such as an awards dinner, celebrity chef demos, workshops, presentations from various tourism agencies and a cultural gala from the Sesame Flyers where their costumes for the upcoming West Indian Day Parade will be revealed. They will also recognise individuals who are making a significant contribution to Caribbean Culture.

There will also be a Rum and Rhythm benefit featuring Vincentian soca artist Skinny Fabulous. This event is the major fund-raiser for the CTO Scholarship Foundation and proceeds are spent on providing scholarships to Caribbean nationals desirous of pursuing studies in Tourism and tourism-related subjects, who, without this assistance could not pursue their dream of a career in the tourism industry.

Loop will be present at Caribbean Week so look out for our indepth coverage.
