Carnival fitness programmes to get you in shape for the season

Carnival Monday and Tuesday is almost here and already the fetes are in full swing.

Some of you are deep into your diets as you ready your body for the road but do you have the stamina to endure two days of jumping, wining and storming the Savannah stage?

If the answer is no, the good news is that you do have a few more weeks to get your body ready thanks to a number of aerobic programmes across the country.

We compiled a list to help you out.

An indigenous fitness system that incorporates Soca music and moves designed from our cultural traditions, Sokafit is a fun, dynamic fitness system that will keep your blood flowing and wake up your wining muscles. Classes are held in Port-of-Spain, San Fernando, Central and Tobago. Visit for schedules and contact info.

Digicel Burn

Digicel's annual Carnival Burn is back every Monday at the Paddock area of the Queen's Park Savannah. Patrons are invited to the free event where they can burn off some of those Christmas calories, tone some muscles and sweat with the energetic instructors from Alfonso Sport and Fitness. Supported by Blue Waters, this Burn brings you face to face with soca stars and past and present party favourites belted out by resident DJ Dwayne. You can look forward to #pumpinwithDigicel on January 15, 22 and 29 from 5 pm to 6 pm.

Part EE

Anyone who follows Fay-Ann Lyons on Instagram knows she is a fitness buff. Now, under her fitness brand, AzaFit, Lyons is sharing her fitness regimen with the country. Part EE (Party, Entertainment, Exercise) brings the elements of Carnival into fitness. The outdoor session, which takes place on Saturday afternoons, sees a big truck leading fitness enthusiasts and fans up Chancellor Hill where Lyons and other instructors take everyone through an aerobic routine. On Thursdays, Part EE moves indoors at Limitless Gym in Long Circular Mall. Part EE is free.

As part of its Carnival promotion, the Trinidad and Tobago Radio Network (TTRN) known popularly as OJO, after the station's app, holds a weekly fitness session called OJO Fit. Featured in this burn are instructors from SokaFit as well as soca stars and OJO DJs.  The workouts are free and will take place on the following days: Tuesday, January 23, Thursday, January 25, Tuesday, January 30 and Thursday, February 1.

Hott 93 Carnival Burn 2018

Movietowne carpark in Port-of-Spain comes alive every Tuesday and Thursday as an experienced Fitness Centre Team and all of Hott 93’s DJs and personalities take patrons through a free burn. The event includes giveaways and a Challenge Trophy for Best and Biggest Corporate Team and guaranteed super prizes for Mr and Ms Burn, including two airline tickets each to any JetBlue destination in the US, and much more.

Bermudez Biscuit Company

Every Monday and Wednesday, employees of Bermudez head to Aranguez Savannah for a Carnival Burn session. The workouts begin at 5 and are open to the public as well.
