Caught by police, man gets charged for having sex with minor
A 22-year-old Manzanilla labourer has been arrested and charged after he was caught by police in the act of having sexual intercourse with a 16-year-old girl.
The incident occurred on April 27 and began with a phone call from a good Samaritan.
Sources told Loop TT that last Friday, a concerned citizen contacted Manzanilla Police informing them that a child dressed in a school uniform was seen entering a house during school hours.
The girl had been there for some time.
The officers responded and entered the house around 4:30 pm where they found the man engaged in sex with the teenager.
The suspect was charged with sexual penetration of a child.
The girl’s mother was called in and she was taken to the hospital for a medical examination.
Police were told that teen met the man over the Easter vacation in early April.
Under the Children’s Act, a person who sexually penetrates a child commits an offence and is liable on conviction or indictment, to imprisonment for life.
The exercise was spearheaded by Inspector Darren Baptiste, PC Lockett and WPC Lezama
The charge was laid by WPC Rampersad.
