Cause of Charlotte Street fire still unknown
The quick response of fire officers on Wednesday is being praised after they were able to quickly contain a blaze along lower Charlotte Street, Port of Spain.
Fire officers are expected to return to the scene of the fire on Thursday to continue inquiries to determine what may have caused the fire.
However, based on preliminary reports, its origins are believed to be electrical in nature.
According to police reports, around 7 am on Wednesday, fire officers received a report of a fire at a building along the roadway.
Appliances from the Wrightson Road Headquarters responded, with four appliances, and they were able to quickly contain the blaze. Acting Assistant Divisional Fire Officer Dasent spearheaded over a dozen officers who were on the scene.
Most of the damage, LoopTT was told, was smoke damage and water damage.
