Central Market vendor robbed at gunpoint

Following the recent beating and stabbing of a doubles vendor, yet another food vendor was the victim of an armed robbery near the Port of Spain Central Market.

Besson Street Police are investigating an armed robbery which took place near the Central Market on Tuesday.

The victim, a vendor from Flanagin Town, told police that he wrapped up his sales around 3:00 pm that day after working at the Central Market and packed up to leave in his white pickup truck.

However, whilst proceeding south towards the Churchill Roosevelt Highway from Abattoir Road, Sea Lots, a white Nissan AD wagon pulled in front of his car, blocking him.

Two men armed with firearms exited the vehicle and pointed their weapons at the driver and announced a hold-up.

The men threatened to kill the driver if he didn’t comply.

The men robbed the vendor of all his money earned that day and then escaped onto the highway.

Cpl Masleir is continuing inquiries.

More on this as it becomes available.
