Chaguanas businessman beaten, robbed

A Chaguanas supermarket owner was beaten and robbed at his business place Friday morning.

According to reports, 45-year-old Jeewan Ramdial was entering Jeewan’s Supermarket and Wholesale at Eleanor Street around 7 am, when he was held at gunpoint by two men, one armed with a gun.

The assailants demanded Ramdial hand over his keys, but he refused and instead threw them into some nearby bushes.

The two men then proceeded to beat him and forced him to hand over $20,000 in cash.

The suspects escaped on foot.

Ramdial was taken to hospital for medical treatment.

Investigators are reviewing CCTV footage in hopes of identifying the suspects.
