Avinash ‘Krysis’ Seepersad, dubbed by police as the leader of the “Unruly Isis” gang in Enterprise Chaguanas, has been arrested following an altercation with police on Wednesday.

According to reports, Chaguanas Police arrived at Mano Junction around 1:30 pm, where they saw Seepersad of St John, Enterprise, acting suspiciously.

The officers searched the 24-year-old  Enterprise man, who on leaving, allegedly hurled homophobic insults at the police.

As such, a team of officers moved to arrest Seepersad, who also goes by the Islamic name Abdul Wakeel.

Sources told Loop TT that six officers spent roughly 15 minutes attempting to calm and subdue the suspect who resisted arrest.

An officer was said to have been injured in the process.

According to sources, Seepersad was handcuffed and placed in the back of the police jeep but allegedly jumped out in an attempt to escape.

He reportedly suffered a broken nose and was taken, along with the injured police officer, to the Chaguanas Health Facility.

He was charged with resisting arresting, insulting language, assaulting a police officer and malicious damage.

Senior officials say officers were outfitted with body cameras which could corroborate the claims.

Seepersad, who was convicted of Marijuana possession last month, is expected to be brought before a Chaguanas magistrate on Friday morning.

Meanwhile, following the incident, Officers, with the assistance of the Canine Branch, then proceeded to Bhagaloo Street, Enterprise, where they found a revolver, six rounds of ammunition and 150 grammes of marijuana, hidden amongst some concrete blocks.

No arrests were made in connection with the finds.
