Chaguanas to resume wrecking of illegally parked vehicles

The towing (wrecking) of illegally parked vehicles is set to resume in Chaguanas later this month.

In a public notice, the Chaguanas Borough Corporation (CBC) advised that violators of the Motor Vehicle and Road Traffic Act Chapter 48:50 will be charged $500 for the release of each vehicle towed.

The towed vehicles will be impounded at the Corporation's Municipal Police Station Compound at Cumberbatch Street, Chaguanas.

The Corporation added that the operations will be conducted during the hours of 9 am to 7 pm Monday to Saturday, and during special events in the Borough.

Motorists are also advised that an additional $200 fee would be incurred for each night the vehicle spends unclaimed on the compound.

The order takes effect August 20.

The CBC says the initiative of the Police Service, in collaboration with the Corporation, will instill law and order within the Borough.
