Chaguanas vendor arrested for trafficking cocaine

Central Division Officers arrested a vendor for possession of cocaine for the purpose of trafficking at the Chaguanas Market on Friday.

Around 1:05 pm, a group of police officers were on foot patrol along Eleanor Street, Chaguanas, near the rear entrance to the Chaguanas market when PC Baptiste observed a vendor standing at the entrance.

Another man approached the vendor and handed over a quantity of cash.

The vendor placed the cash in his pant pocket and took from his left pant pocket, a clear plastic packet.

With clenched fists, he handed the packet over to the second-mentioned man.

PC Baptiste approached the vendor of Ramgoolie Trace North, Cunupia and conducted a search.

While doing so, he found a quantity of cash which amounted to $194.00.

The officer also found a clear plastic packet containing grey rock-like material resembling cocaine.

The substance weighed 10.3 grams.

The vendor was arrested and charged for the offence.
