Chaguanas woman in court for sexual assault of Venezuelan woman
A woman, who allegedly partook in the luring and sexual assault of a Venezuelan woman, was scheduled to appear before a Chaguanas Magistrate on Tuesday.
The woman was held on Monday night and charged with grievous sexual assault.
W-Cpl Joseph is the charging officer (complainant) in this matter.
Police officers were told that the 23-year-old allegedly went to a roti shop in the Couva district for a job interview last week.
However, she was forced to go to a house in Edinburgh 500, against her will, where she was kept for three days. The victim alleges that she was sexually assaulted during this time.
She was then dropped off in Chaguanas, and the victim was able to notify relatives.
She was picked up and made a report to police.
She was also medically examined.
Investigations were launched under Sgt Jugmohan, which led to the detention and arrest of the woman.
Police are still searching for the woman’s accomplice in this matter.
