Chaguanas woman still hospitalised after chopping attack

Chinel Jeffery, the woman remains warded at the Eric Williams Medical Sciences Complex after a brutal attack on Friday in which she was chopped almost a dozen times by her husband.

Jeffery, police said, was expected to recover from her injuries.

Her husband, Christopher Singuineau, was killed by police, who responded to Jeffery’s cries for help.

The incident took place around  3.15 pm on Friday along Enterprise Street, Chaguanas.

Police officers were on patrol when they heard the woman screaming for help.

They responded and saw Jeffery on the floor of the living room of the couple’s home.

Singuineau was standing over her with a cutlass in his hand.

The officers called on the man to drop the weapon, however, he did not comply.

Officers responded and broke down the door, however upon encountering, Singuineau which led to him being shot.

He and Jeffrey were taken to the Chaguanas District Health Facility where he died.

Jeffrey was later transferred to the Mt Hope hospital.

A post mortem is expected to be done on Singuineau's body on today at the Forensic Science Center in St James.
