Chaguaramas gold chain thieves caught in Carenage

Western Division police have nabbed five suspects for the theft of a gold chain and a cell phone from a group of people in Chaguaramas on Saturday.

According to police reports, around 9:45pm the victims were walking along the Western Main Road in Chaguaramas, near O2 Park, when they were approached by a group of men.

The assailants shoved them and grabbed a gold chain valued at $13,000 and an iPhone valued at $5000, before escaping in a black KIA Cerato.

Officers of the Western Division Task Force responded to the robbery report an intercepted the vehicle along Western Main Road, Carenage.

The vehicle was searched, leading to the recovery of the stolen jewellery and mobile phone, which were later identified by the victims.

The five occupants of the vehicle were taken to the West End Police Station pending enquiries.
