Champs Fleurs man caught stealing truck batteries

A Champs Fleurs man has been arrested after being caught stealing two batteries from a three tonne Hyundai truck.

According to reports, Cpl (Ag.) Ryan Bhall and WPC Natasha Bruce of the Caroni Police Station were on mobile patrol along La Solita Road, Kelly Village, Caroni, around 1:30 am on Monday, when they observed a man standing to the back of the truck.

He spotted the officers and walked away from the truck and toward a Nissan Sunny, which was parked a short distance away and had its trunk opened.

The officers stopped and conducted a search of the area, which resulted in two batteries being found on the ground next to the truck.

On checking the truck the officers found that it was missing two batteries.

The man, a 24-year-old of Champs Fleurs, was arrested in connection with the theft.

Investigations are ongoing.
