Travellers at the Piarco International Airport have complained of long lines at the local and international Immigration Desks.
LoopTT has been informed that only one immigration officer was on duty to process incoming flights.
Passengers have been waiting for as much as two hours without any update on what has been taking place. Some are said to be disembarking flights at this time.
LoopTT understands that today's situation may have stemmed out of dissatisfaction among immigration workers over a number of issues, including the non-payment of overtime owed to employees since sometime last year.
Former food production minister Devant Maharaj claims that travellers were made to endure these conditions while a PNM Minister and a former president were processed quickly.
The Airports Authority is aware of the situation but said the issue is one which lies with Immigration.
