Chinese man arrested for drunk driving, fake permit
A Chinese national is expected to appear before a Port of Spain Magistrate on Monday after he was held for driving under the influence.
The suspect was held along Wrightson Road, near the Halsey Crawford Stadium.
According to police reports, a team of officers from the Traffic Branch, led by Inspector Frank, were conducting exercises in the area, when they had cause to stop a vehicle being driven by the national.
A breathalyser test was administered, which the suspect failed.
When his driver’s permit was examined, it was also found to be fake.
As a result, the suspect was immediately arrested and taken into custody.
However, the arrest has led to another inquiry, as the suspect has told police that he was given the fake license by a police officer for the sum of $10,000.
