Chinese national in critical condition after shooting

A Chinese national has been warded in a critical condition after a shooting on Sunday morning at Duncan Village, San Fernando.

Jinyuan Ye, 24, was shot during a robbery at the Club 2000 bar.

According to police reports, at about 10.30 am Sunday, an armed assailant entered the building and followed Ye.

At the time, Ye was collecting money from the previous night’s earnings.

As the 24-year-old was handed a bag of cash – which police were told was an estimated $100,000 – the assailant pulled out a firearm, shot Ye twice in the head, and stole the bag.

He then grabbed a DVR player which kept recordings from CCTV cameras set up in the building and fled the scene.

No one else was injured in this incident.

The police were notified and the wounded man was rushed to the San Fernando General Hospital.

The scene of the shooting was visited by a team of officers led by ASP John and included Insp Simon and Insp Nanan.

More on this as it becomes available.
