Chinese restaurant bandits held with loaded gun

Three men are currently in police custody after they allegedly robbed a Chinese restaurant in Debe on Monday.

The three men – a 20-year-old man from El Dorado Road, Tunapuna, a 21-year-old from Upper Irving Street, Petit Bourg, and a 37-year-old man from Matino Lane, East Dry River – were arrested by officers of the Highway Patrol Unit around 1.30 pm on Monday.

Police received a report of a robbery which took place along SS Erin Road, Debe.

The victims – said to be the owners and customers – were held up at gunpoint and relieved of their cash and valuables.

The gunmen made off in a silver Nissan Almera.

A report was immediately made to the police and a description was given of the suspects as well as the get away vehicle.

An all points bulletin was issued, and the officers from the Highway Patrol Unit observed a vehicle and suspects which matched the description given along the Sir Solomon Hochoy Highway.

The vehicle was intercepted near Chase Village, Chaguanas.

The car was searched, and the stolen items, as well as a firearm, was found and seized inside of the car.

The suspects were taken to the San Fernando CID, where they will appear in identification parades.

The incident led to some traffic along the highway, with many motorists recording the suspects as they were detained.
