Chinese supermarket robbed; bandits make off with money and rum

Chinese nationals continue to be targeted by criminal elements, with the latest incident being reported at the Rejoice Supermarket along Edward Street, Princes Town.

According to police reports, at about 9 pm on Thursday, the 49-year-old business proprietor was at her workplace when two men entered the store.

One of the men was armed with a firearm that they pointed at the woman while announcing a holdup.

They proceeded to relieve the woman of an undisclosed sum of money which represented sales for the day.

The assailants also took two bottles of rum before escaping on foot.

The police were immediately notified and a party of officers led by Sgt Ramroop visited the scene.
