A 33-year-old man was arrested and charged after breaking into a Couva barber shop. 

The suspect is Nicholas Ali alias Chu-Bur of Teelucksingh Street, East California. 

Ali was scheduled to appear virtually at the Couva Magistrates’ Court on Wednesday.

According to reports, the owner of the barbershop located at the corner of Southern Main Road and Teelucksingh Street locked the building on Sunday at around 2pm.

He returned around 9 am the following day and observed the metal gate at the entrance pried open while the glass door was fully opened.

The entire shop had been ransacked and 10 hair trimmers, one soldering iron, screwdrivers and several hair combs valued at approximately $5,800 were missing.

Investigations were supervised by acting Sgt Badree and conducted by PCs Meah and Flemming. It led to the arrest of the suspect and the recovery of all the items that had been taken.
