'Chubby’ in court for neighbour's murder

A Princes Town man is due to appear in court on Thursday, charged with the murder of his neighbour.

Aaron Balkaran aka ‘Chubby’, 25, a labourer, of Gunness Circular, Princes Town, was charged with murder following advice received from Deputy Director of Public Prosecutions, George Busby, on Wednesday.

The victim, Roshan Ramdial, 43, also a labourer, from Reserve Road, Princes Town, was at a neighbour’s house for a birthday party on April 18, when he got into a dispute with a man known to him.

During the argument, the man hit Ramdial to the side of his face with a rum bottle.

Later that same day, the victim began complaining of pain and was taken to the San Fernando General Hospital, where he was warded and eventually succumbed to his injuries on Thursday night. Investigations were supervised by Insp. (Ag.) Learie Figaro of Homicide Bureau of Investigations (HBI), Region 3, and Sgt. Roger Ramlogan, of Princes Town Criminal Investigations Department.

Balkaran was charged by Cpl. Donny Bridgemohan, also of the HBI Region 3.
