'Church woman' charged for robbery

A 26-year-old woman, described as an “avid” member of a Pentecostal church, is expected to appear before a San Fernando Magistrate on robbery charges today.

Vidya Alfred, of Bamboo Village, La Romaine, made her first appearance yesterday before Magistrate Joanne O'Connor in the First Court.

She was charged with robbing an employee at the NP Service Station on Rushworth Street, San Fernando, of $120,000.

The incident allegedly took place on August 6.

She was not called upon to enter a plea.

Alfred was represented by attorney Frank Gittens.

After submissions to the court, the matter was adjourned so that submissions for bail could be heard.
