A 35-year-old woman was among two persons held for driving under the influence in Arima during police exercises last night. Nine others, Loop News was told, were issued speeding tickets.

As a result, police are once again calling on motorists to adhere to road traffic laws and regulations, especially with the demerit system in force, as should enough points be accrued under a driver’s name, they can be barred from driving.

Additionally, at least five motor vehicular accidents were reported in the Northern Division on Friday night alone. Thankfully, none were fatal.

The woman, police said, was from Tumpuna Gardens, Arima. She was charged by PC Salim. The man, a 46-year-old from Chaguanas, was charged by Cpl Bissoon.

The legal limit is 35 microgrammes per 100 millilitre of breath (µg/100mL).

The operation took place between 9pm on Friday and 1am today and was supervised by Cpl Bissoon.
