CJ slams newspaper report, denies influencing any judicial officer

Chief Justice Ivor Archie is once again rejecting as ‘false’, statements he labelled as innuendos published in the Sunday Express.

The CJ issued a statement in response to the allegations on Tuesday.

“The Chief Justice categorically rejects the false and fabricated insinuation that he has ever sought to influence any judicial officer in their sentencing or other judicial function”.

The country’s third highest office holder said he notes the now transparent attempt to hound him out of office using tactics of innuendo and relying on comments on those innuendos.

He said this raises concern as to who wants the CJ out of office and why.

Archie said he supports a free and independent press but called for responsible journalism to be practised in the public interest and to avoid muckraking.
